February 4-7, 2025, lecturers from the Biology Department conducted promotional visits to various areas outside Bengkulu City. This activity aimed to introduce the Biology department and the programs offered to students in class XII, enhance cooperation with schools, and increase the number of applicants to the Biology department.<\/p>\n\n\n

The Department of Biology has MBKM internship programs, independent studies, joint field lectures (KLB), fast track S1-S2 programs (5 years), independent projects, intership, student mobility, and collaboration programs with partners such as UGM, BRIN, IPB, BPOM, University Malaya, University Putra Malaysia and others. The facilities are qualified and the achievements made by Biology students are also many, such as the best HIMA in UNIB in 2024, the study program with the highest number of passes for Student Creativity Program (PKM) funding in UNIB in 2024. Biology expertise groups are Microbiology, Ecology, Botany, Genetics, Zoology. The profile of graduates can work as researchers and academics, educators, entrepreneurs, consultants and experts, functional staff such as curators of biological collections. <\/p>\n\n\n

The lecturers involved in this activity were Dr. Sipriyadi S.Si., M.Si., Fatimatuzzahra, S.Pd., M.Si., and Safniyeti, S.Pd., M.Si. The destination areas targeted for promotion were Lubuklinggau City, Musi Rawas Regency, North Musi Rawas Regency, Lebong Regency, North Bengkulu Regency, Rejang Lebong Regency, Kepahiang Regency, Muko-Muko Regency, Kerinci City, Sungai Penuh Regency.<\/p>\n\n\n

The enthusiasm of teachers and students for this visit was extraordinary. Teachers are very grateful for this activity. According to the teacher, students have low interest and desire to continue their education to college. The teacher really hopes that through this activity it can broaden students’ knowledge of Biology and foster interest and enthusiasm to continue their education to the college level. The same thing was felt by the students, they were very excited to listen to the explanation from the lecturers about universities, related to entry points, scholarships, student organizations, and what programs they could participate in during college.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Sipriyadi S.Si., M.Si. as the head of the Biology department hopes that through this promotional activity it can increase the interest of students in the schools that have been visited to the Biology department. Opening students’ insights into higher education so that it can motivate them to continue their education, he said. <\/p>\n\n\n
