History

D-III Laboratory Science Study Program is a vocational education program under the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB). The D-III Laboratory Science Study Program was established based on a permit from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education No. 186/D/O/2010, dated 23 November 2010. The purpose of establishing the D-III Laboratory Science Study Program is to accommodate the needs of Educational Laboratory Personnel (PLP) in accordance with Permendiknas No. 26 of 2008 concerning School Laboratory Personnel Standards. Based on this regulation, the standard of school laboratory personnel consists of the Head of Laboratory, Laboratory Technician, and Laboratory Attendant. To meet the qualifications of technicians and laboratory assistants in the laboratory, the D-III Science Laboratory Study Program developed a curriculum to produce competitive professionals as technicians, laboratory officers, and also entrepreneurs in the field of science.

In 2014, the D-III Laboratory Science Study Program received B accreditation based on a decision letter from the National Accreditation Board of Higher Education (BAN-PT) No. 446/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/DpI-III/XI/2014. The study program continues to run and develop safely for five years which is the limit of recognition of the previous accreditation period. In 2019, the reaccreditation visitation of the D-III Laboratory Science Study Program was postponed, with a temporary extension of accreditation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining a B rating based on BAN-PT Decree No. 4578/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-PPJ/Dipl-III/XI/2019. In 2020, the D-III Laboratory Science Study Program was re-accredited with a B rating based on BAN-PT Decree No. 7184/SK/BAN-PT/Akred/Dipl-III/XI/2020. The D-III Laboratory Science Study Program has undergone two accreditation assessments, namely in 2014 (B rating) and in 2020 (B rating). Great expectations for improving the quality and progress of the study program in the future. in 2025, the study program is required to be re-accredited again, and hopefully get very good results.
