
AKUATROP University of Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) Visit and Joint Public Lecture at the Department of Biology FMIPA UNIB
Bengkulu. Biology S1 and S2 programs of FMIPA UNIB held a public lecture in collaboration with AKUATROP University of Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). University of Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) is a higher education institution that focuses on marine and aquaculture fields that are qualified both in terms of human resources and infrastructure. This collaborative public lecture was opened by the Dean of FMIPA UNIB Prof. Sal Prima Yudha S, S.Si., M.Si. Prof. Sal Prima Yudha S, S.Si., M.Si. hopes that this collaboration can be utilized by lecturers and students to improve the quality of learning, research and scientific publications with the facilities and experience possessed by AKUATROP University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT).
The public lecture activity which was held on October 28, 2024 was filled by 3 speakers, namely Dr. Norainy Mohd Husin from AKUATROP University Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), then continued by Dr. Risky Hadi Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si. and Dr. Sipriyadi, S.Si., M.Si as Lecturers of the Biology Department of FMIPA UNIB. Dr. Norainy Mohd Husin delivered material related to Giant Clams of Peninsular Malaysia: Distribution and Population Genetics. Dr. Norainy Mohd Husin also expressed his admiration for the nature of Enggano Island in Bengkulu Province. He documented some of the giant clams found on the island.
Dr. Risky Hadi Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si. delivered material related to Diversity and Bioprospecting of Symbiotic Bacteria from Marine Animals in Bengkulu as the Potential Antimicrobial Producers. He hopes that this collaboration can open opportunities for lecturers and students to explore marine animals in Bengkulu Province that have potential as antimicrobials. AKUATROP is known as a leading research institute owned by the University of Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) in the marine field. The presence of this collaboration, Dr. Risky Hadi Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si. hopes that the marine potential in Bengkulu Province can be published through various researches.
Dr. Sipriyadi, S.Si., M.Si delivered material on Marine and Freshwater Biology Research in Bengkulu Province: Challenging and Opportunities. Through this material Dr. Sipriyadi, S.Si., M.Si hopes that students and lecturers in the Department of Biology will be more interested in the natural wealth of marine and freshwater in Bengkulu Province. So that all the potential and opportunities that have not been revealed from the sea and freshwater in Bengkulu Province can be well publicized.
