Anthropometric Assessment of Nutritional Status of Students at Generasi Rabbani IT Middle School, Bengkulu City

Indonesian schoolchildren’s nutritional issues are highly varied. Malnutrition can raise the risk of infectious diseases, slow down growth and development, and lower IQ levels. Nutrition has a greater impact on physical and mental health. Health is related to quality of life. Children’s growth and development can be hampered by both undernutrition and overnutrition, which also raises their risk of illness. Teenagers are particularly susceptible to poor nutrition because they are still quite susceptible to outside influences including the school environment, connections with friends, and current fads and trends. This is what could impact one’s health and nutritional status.

The nutritional status of pupils at SMP IT Generasi Rabbani, Bengkulu City, has never been measured, and there hasn’t been any nutrition-related socializing. As a result, socialization and precise anthropometric measures are required. Because it becomes a significant issue in teens and results in other health issues, this preventive measure has the potential to have negative health effects. Dian Fita Lestari, Dedi Satriawan, and Novia Duya, lecturers majoring in biology at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Bengkulu, carried out this dedication activity on December 8, 2022. based on the outcomes of the service that 20 students participated in and followed. Additionally, a pre- and post-test on nutrition is given to the students.

Additionally, the service team gave out information on anthropometric nutritional status evaluation. Anthropometric measures revealed that there were 3 kids who had more nutrition, 8 students who had normal nutrition, and 9 students who had less nutrition. This demonstrates that female students SMP IT Generasi Rabbani typically have poor nutritional status. Since the majority of students fast, this is feasible. Students were really excited to measure their weight and height after the presentation of the content during the service activity. The post-test findings revealed an improvement in the students’ nutrition-related test results. Service operations went off without a hitch.
