
Utilization of Surrounding Plants in Making Herbarium for the Enrichment of School Laboratory Collections for Students at SMPIT Generasi Rabbani, Bengkulu City
A herbarium is a collection of preserved plant specimens, both dry and wet. Neighboring plants can be used to make a simple herbarium. The purpose of this service activity is to provide knowledge and insight to students, especially SMPIT Generasi Rabbani students in Bengkulu City regarding the use of local plants as basic materials in making herbarium for the enrichment of school laboratory collections and to help increase the creativity of students in utilizing surrounding plants as learning media. especially the teacher as a learning facilitator.
The herbarium made in community service activities is a dry herbarium using local plants, such as peacock flowers (Caesalpinia pulcherrima), betel (Piper betle), reeds (Imperata cylindrica), true ferns, and marigolds (Cosmos caudatus). Plant organs are used in the form of leaves, twigs, and flowers.
The activity method is carried out through 3 stages, starting with material socialization, collecting local plants as the main ingredient for making dry herbarium, and demonstrating herbarium to enrich laboratory collections.

At the end of the service, an evaluation is carried out by way of discussion and a question and answer session of the activities carried out by the students. In addition, an evaluation of the assessment of activities was also carried out using a questionnaire that was distributed after the implementation of the activity. Participants in this activity consisted of 12 grade 7 students who were accompanied by 3 teachers. During the training, the students looked enthusiastic when they made the herbarium. This was supported by the percentage obtained from the distribution of questionnaires, namely more than 50% of the students stated that this service activity was as expected, exciting and the material presented was easy to understand so they were satisfied with this service activity because it had a positive impact on the introduction of plants around the school.
