
BIOFEST 2025: Earth Harmony from Campus to Nature and Society
Bengkulu, April 22, 2025 – In commemoration of Earth Day, celebrated globally every April 22, Biology Department at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Bengkulu, held its annual event, BIOFEST 2025, under the theme “Earth Harmony : From Campus to Nature and Society.” This year’s activities were carried out in collaboration with SMKN 4 Bengkulu students SMPN 7 Bengkulu student, residents of Pasar Bengkulu Urban Village, various environmental communities, and were open to the general public.
BIOFEST 2025 reflects the department’s strong commitment to addressing today’s pressing environmental challenges, including global climate change, ecosystem degradation, and the decline of biodiversity. Through educational, participatory, and sustainable approaches, the event aimed to raise ecological awareness and foster a collective spirit to protect the environment.
A Diverse Line-Up of Activities
Starting at 07.00 AM and held across several key locations—Seblaklicious, Tugu Kota Tuo, and Muara Kualo Beach—BIOFEST 2025 featured a series of meaningful and action-driven activities, including:
Tree Planting at Tugu Kota Tuo as a symbol of urban reforestation and green restoration.
Beach Clean up Muara Kualo Beach, supporting marine species conservation and coastal waste control.
Environmental Seminars and Conservation Book Reviews, offering insights and literacy on ecological issues to students and the broader public.
Student Scientific Orations, providing a platform for youth to voice their ideas and advocacy for environmental protection.
BioSaka Community Outreach, introducing the student-led conservation initiative to school students and local residents.
