Department of Biology FMIPA UNIB Strengthens International Research Collaboration with University of Malaya

Thursday, January 16, 2025, the Department of Biology FMIPA UNIB held an online meeting with the Department of Biology at the University of Malaya, one of the leading universities in Southeast Asia. The meeting, conducted using the Zoom platform, was attended by lecturers from both universities. This meeting represents a strategic step in strengthening international collaboration in research.

Biology lecturers who participated in this meeting were Dr. Sipriyadi, S.Si., M.Si., Dr. Risky Hadi Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si., Fatimatuzzahra, S.Pd., M.Si., Evelyne Riandini, S.Si., M.Si., Drs. Hery Haryanto, M.Si., and Safniyeti, S.Pd., M.Si. While the biology lecturers of the University of Malaya who attended this meeting were Prof. Dr. Mohamad Suffian Bin Mohamad Annuar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tan Yee Shin, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Adawiyah Suriza Shuib, and Dr. Nurul Shamsinah Binti Mohd Suhaimi.

This collaboration aims to expand the scope of research such as microbiology, mycology, lectin protein utilization, fungal and bacterial biodiversity, applied biochemistry, deepen academic insights, and generate innovations with a global impact. Through this partnership, the Department of Biology and the University of Malaya will collaborate on various research projects, including biodiversity and biotechnology, leveraging the strengths of each institution.

Furthermore, this partnership offers opportunities for students and lecturers to participate in academic exchange programs, joint seminars, and research publications in reputable international journals. This collaboration is expected to not only enhance the research ecosystem in the Department of Biology but also make a significant contribution to the advancement of science and nature conservation on a global scale.
