Green Mustard Hydroponics Training at the Salimah Secretariat, Rawa Makmur Ward, Bengkulu City
From June to October 2023, the team did a series of training activities at the Salimah Secretariat, Rawa Makmur Village, Muara Bangkahulu District, Bengkulu City. This activity begins with making a ready-to-use hydroponic installation along with manufacturing nutrients for beginners. After the installation has been prepared, the training team explains the installation design. After explaining the installation design, planting is done by the training team which is monitored by the service partners. At harvest time, theoretical counseling on hydroponics is given in full, accompanied by discussion sessions while harvesting hydroponic vegetables.
In the second stage, the training participants practice directly with the necessary assistance from the team. The partners prove that hydroponic skills have been absorbed well. The results of the practice by the partners look as good as the first plants planted by the team. In this training, containers were used in the form of glass containers used for mineral drinking water for two purposes. The first purpose is to use waste for reuse (reuse) to reduce environmental pollution. The second goal is to reduce the operational costs of hydroponic cultivation.
In the last stage, participants are guided to sow green mustard seeds in the prepared media. These seeds can only be given water without nutrition for a maximum of a week. Then the activity continued with guidance on making hydroponic nutrient solutions. For guidance participants who are beginners, the nutrition used is ready-to-use manufactured nutrition that has been tested in the biology laboratory by the training team. The nutrient solution is added to the nutrient tank which is integrated with the hydroponic installation. The final stage is plant caring until harvest. This treatment is straightforward, just ensure that the nutrient solution is applied every day for about 30 minutes every morning and remove the weeds that sometimes grow in the media.
