
The Importance of Health Protocol Implementation to Students of Sma Negeri 6 Bengkulu Utara: An Attempt to Prevent or Decrease The Spread of Covid-19 in Enggano Island
Corona virus disease (COVID-19) is a disease that caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. The infection can be spread from the mouth or nose of a contaminated individual through minor liquid particles when the individual hacks, sniffles, talks, sings, or breathes. These particles an extend from bigger breads from the respiratory tract to littler mist concentrates. Since the starting of this illness, its spread rapidly through the world, include Indonesia. Its spread started in early 2020. Most of infected people with COVID-19 will recover without side effects, and without extraordinary treatment. While few people will involvement serious torment and require therapeutic help.
The number of positive cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia, including in Bengkulu, continued to increase in mid-2021. As an effort to prevent the explosion of positive cases of Covid-19 on Enggano Island, North Bengkulu, the government do restricted access to across Enggano either by ship or plane from Bengkulu. In the internal environment of Enggano, efforts are also being made to maintain and increase public awareness of the importance of maintaining health protocols to prevent the spread of COVID-19. One of the related activities carried out on Enggano Island led by the Head of Enggano Sub-district, Mr. Marlansius, SE in the form of “Advocacy on the Importance of Implementing Health Protocols with the target being Students of SMA Negeri 6 Bengkulu Utara as an Effort to Prevent the Spread of Covid-19 on Enggano Island” on 6 September 2021. This effort was carried out in response to the current condition of students, which it seems that many have not obeyed the rules of the health protocol to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Bengkulu University FMIPA lecturers (Santi Nurul Kamilah, Apriza Hongko Putra) and students (Eti Widiya Lestari, Riansi Silaban) get involved in in this activity to increase student awareness of the dangers of the spread of COVID-19. In addition to lecturers and students from FMIPA UNIB, the Head of Enggano Sub-district, Mr. Marlansius, SE and also involved a number of officials from the Enggano sub-district, namely the Enggano Sub-district Police Chief, the Enggano District Military Commander, the Enggano Sub-district Navy Post Commander, the Enggano Sub-district Health Center. This activity began with the delivery of the latest conditions of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia and the Covid-19 case in Bengkulu province in particular, then followed by counselling on the importance of implementing health protocols for students in schools, roads and in the family. The activity continued with random health condition checks (covid-19 rapid test antigen) and the distribution of free masks to students and teachers. The results of the randomized test were all negative. At the end of the activity, a review was carried out on increasing students’ understanding and awareness regarding the basics of the importance of maintaining health from contracting and transmitting this COVID-19 disease.
