
Warmth in Togetherness: The Retirement Tribute of Dra. Novia Duya, M.Si. and Family Gathering of the Department of Biology, FMIPA, Universitas Bengkulu
The Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Bengkulu, held a Retirement Tribute and Family Gathering under the theme “Building a Sense of Family and a Solid Teamwork” on Saturday, February 8, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The event took place at Restoran Kabayan 91, Bengkulu City. This meaningful occasion served as a moment to strengthen bonds of collegiality while honoring a retiring lecturer who has dedicated her service to the advancement of the Department of Biology, FMIPA UNIB.
The event commenced with opening remarks from the Head of the Department of Biology FMIPA UNIB, Dr. Risky Hadi Wibowo, S.Si, M.Si, who expressed deep appreciation and gratitude for the remarkable contributions of Dra. Novia Duya, M.Si., throughout her years of service as a lecturer. In his speech, he emphasized that a spirit of togetherness and strong teamwork forms the essential foundation for building an excellent, adaptive, and competitive department.

The atmosphere grew even more heartfelt and warm when reflections and messages were delivered by a colleague representative, Dr.Dra. Darmi, M.S., who fondly recalled years of dedication, exemplary leadership, and shared experiences. Representing the alumni, Liya Agustin Umar conveyed sincere gratitude for the guidance and inspiration she had received, which shaped not only academic competence but also character and life values.
The program continued with an Islamic sermon and collective prayer led by Choirul Muslim, S.U., P.hD., inviting all attendees to reflect on the meaning of service, sincerity, and the importance of maintaining strong bonds of brotherhood within the academic community. This reflective moment was further enriched by a video presentation featuring messages and tributes from colleagues, alumni, and students of the Biology Department, highlighting memories, dedication, and heartfelt wishes for a meaningful retirement.
On this special occasion, Dra. Novia Duya, M.Si., as the honored retiree, delivered her remarks and expressed gratitude for the years of togetherness and collaboration. She shared her hope that the Department of Biology FMIPA UNIB will continue to grow as an academic space that excels not only in the Tri Dharma of higher education but also in fostering a strong sense of family.
As a token of appreciation, a commemorative gift was symbolically presented by the Secretary of the Department of Biology FMIPA UNIB, Santi Nurul Kamilah, S.Si, M.Si. The presentation symbolized gratitude for her dedication and invaluable contributions.

The event concluded with a group photo session, friendly gathering, and shared lunch in a warm and joyful atmosphere. Through this event, the Department of Biology FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu not only honored a respected lecturer’s retirement with dignity but also reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing a strong sense of family and solid teamwork for shared progress in the future.
