Undergraduate Statistics Program of Universitas Bengkulu Implements the Independent Practitioner Teaching Program for the Odd Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year / Prodi S1 Statistika UNIB Selenggarakan Program Praktisi Mengajar Mandiri Semester Ganjil 2025/2026
Bengkulu – The Undergraduate Statistics Program, Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Bengkulu, once again demonstrated its commitment to enhancing the quality of learning through the implementation of the Independent Practitioner Teaching Program for the Odd Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year. This activity is part of the implementation of the Kampus Berdampak policy, which aims to strengthen the linkage between academia and the professional world.
In this program, the Undergraduate Statistics Program invited professional practitioners from the Bengkulu Provincial Office of the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to be directly involved in classroom learning. The practitioners taught in two courses, namely Introduction to Spatial Statistics and Machine Learning and Prediction Modelling.
In the Introduction to Spatial Statistics course, a practitioner from BMKG Bengkulu Province, Tamia Widi Nurhalita, S.Tr., M.Stat., delivered material on variogram and semivariogram calculation procedures, theoretical and experimental variograms, as well as the application of kriging interpolation methods to real-world problems. The material was presented in an applied manner based on practical experience in the fields of meteorology and geophysics, helping students understand the linkage between spatial statistics theory and real-world applications. Meanwhile, in the Machine Learning and Prediction Modelling course, a practitioner from BRIN, Dr. Hengki Muradi, S.Si., M.Si., presented material on fundamental concepts of machine learning and their applications in various real cases, as well as the development of the Generalized Mixed-Effect Machine Learning method and its potential for further research. This session provided students with insights into cutting-edge research developments and the challenges of complex data modeling.
The implementation of this practitioner teaching program received a very positive response from students. Discussions were active and interactive, encouraging students to think critically, analytically, and contextually. The presence of practitioners not only enriched students’ understanding of the applications of statistics and machine learning but also increased learning motivation and interest in research and professional careers.
The Coordinator of the Undergraduate Statistics Program stated that the Independent Practitioner Teaching Program is one of the program’s strategic efforts to maintain and enhance the quality of learning, in line with the Unggul accreditation status that has been achieved. Through collaboration with external institutions such as BMKG and BRIN, the Undergraduate Statistics Program hopes to continue expanding its cooperation networks in the areas of teaching, research, and student competency development. Going forward, the Undergraduate Statistics Program of Universitas Bengkulu is committed to sustaining and further developing practitioner teaching activities as part of a learning transformation that is adaptive, applied, and relevant to workforce demands and scientific advancements.
Bengkulu – Program Studi S1 Statistika, Jurusan Matematika, FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu kembali menunjukkan komitmennya dalam meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran melalui pelaksanaan Program Praktisi Mengajar Mandiri Semester Ganjil Tahun Akademik 2025/2026.
