Undergraduate Statistics Program Supports the Strengthening of Research Culture through the Dissemination of Research Outcomes by the Department of Mathematics Faculty Members in 2025 / Prodi S1 Statistika Dukung Penguatan Budaya Riset melalui Diseminasi Hasil Penelitian Dosen Jurusan Matematika 2025

The Undergraduate Statistics Program of Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB) organized a Career Seminar entitled “Work-Ready, Self-Ready: Psychological Strategies to Enter the Workforce and Thrive Within It” on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 09:00 to 11:00 WIB. The seminar was conducted online via Zoom Meeting.

The career seminar was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Bengkulu, Prof. Arif Ismul Hadi, M.Si. In his opening remarks, he emphasized the importance of preparing students and alumni not only in terms of academic competence, but also in mental readiness, character development, and adaptability in facing the dynamic demands of the professional world.

On this occasion, the Head of the Undergraduate Statistics Program, Pepi Novianti, S.Si., M.Stat., also delivered welcoming remarks. In her speech, she stated that the career seminar was part of the program’s commitment to equipping students and alumni with non-academic readiness, particularly soft skills and psychological preparedness, as a complement to the statistical competencies acquired during their studies. She further emphasized that graduates’ success in the workplace is not solely determined by mastery of knowledge, but also by self-confidence, the ability to recognize personal potential, and resilience in facing professional challenges.

The seminar featured Dhea Nurul Vitri, S.Psi., Psychologist, as the main speaker. The material presented focused on psychological strategies for building readiness to enter the workforce, developing self-confidence, and sustaining growth and resilience in a competitive work environment.

The seminar was moderated by Anggun Permatasari, S.Si., M.Si., a lecturer of the Undergraduate Statistics Program at Universitas Bengkulu. The discussion was conducted interactively through a question-and-answer session, providing participants with the opportunity to share experiences and raise questions related to the challenges of transitioning from the academic environment to the professional world.

The career seminar was attended by students and alumni of the Undergraduate Statistics Program, Universitas Bengkulu. This activity is expected to provide participants with comprehensive preparation, both in terms of psychological competence and career readiness, enabling graduates of the Undergraduate Statistics Program at UNIB to compete effectively and develop professionally in the workplace.

Bengkulu, December 8, 2025 – The Undergraduate Statistics Program actively participated in the Dissemination of Research Outcomes by Faculty Members of the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Universitas Bengkulu, 2025, which was held on Monday, December 8, 2025, at the FMIPA Meeting Room, Universitas Bengkulu. This activity served as a strategic academic forum for disseminating faculty research achievements and strengthening the research culture within the academic environment.

The dissemination event was officially opened by the Dean of FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu, Prof. Dr. Sal Prima Yudha S, S.Si., M.Si., and began with remarks from the Head of the Department of Mathematics, Dr. Mulia Astuti, S.Si., M.Si., who emphasized the importance of disseminating research outcomes as an integral part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

This academic forum featured four lecturers from the Department of Mathematics, FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu, as presenters, showcasing research topics relevant to strategic regional and national issues. One of the presenters was a lecturer from the Undergraduate Statistics Program, Dr. Pepi Novianti, S.Si., M.Si., who presented a study entitled “Earthquake Risk Mapping Using a Copula-Based Spatial Extreme Value Approach for Natural Disaster Mitigation in Bengkulu Province.” The study highlighted the application of spatial statistical methods to support data-driven disaster mitigation efforts.

In addition, research on the development of statistical methods using Small Area Estimation (SAE) for poverty analysis and spatial nonparametric regression modeling was presented by Dr. Etis Sunandi, S.Si., M.Si. and Dr. Idhia Sriliana, S.Si., M.Si. Meanwhile, Dr. Yulian Fauzi, S.Si., M.Si. presented research on the integration of local wisdom and WebGIS technology for tsunami disaster mitigation in the coastal areas of Bengkulu. The entire session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Jose Rizal, S.Si., M.Si..

The activity proceeded interactively with an active discussion and question-and-answer session, reflecting the participants’ enthusiasm in exploring the methods, findings, and scientific contributions of each presented study. This dissemination forum not only facilitated the sharing of research results but also opened opportunities for cross-disciplinary research collaboration and further research development.

Through this activity, the Undergraduate Statistics Program reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the strengthening of academic culture, the development of applied statistical methods, and the generation of scholarly contributions with tangible societal impact. In the future, such dissemination activities are expected to be conducted continuously and to involve students as part of efforts to strengthen the research atmosphere and research-based learning within the Undergraduate Statistics Program.

Bengkulu, 8 Desember 2025 – Program Studi S1 Statistika turut berperan aktif dalam pelaksanaan kegiatan Diseminasi Hasil Penelitian Dosen Jurusan Matematika FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu Tahun 2025 yang diselenggarakan pada Senin, 8 Desember 2025, bertempat di Ruang Rapat FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu. Kegiatan ini menjadi forum ilmiah strategis dalam menyebarluaskan capaian penelitian dosen serta memperkuat budaya riset di lingkungan akademik.

Kegiatan diseminasi dibuka secara resmi oleh Dekan FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu, Prof. Dr. Sal Prima Yudha S, S.Si., M.Si., dan diawali dengan sambutan dari Ketua Jurusan Matematika FMIPA, Dr. Mulia Astuti, S.Si., M.Si. yang menekankan pentingnya diseminasi hasil penelitian sebagai bagian integral dari pelaksanaan Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi.

Forum ilmiah ini menghadirkan empat dosen Jurusan Matematika FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu sebagai penyaji, dengan topik penelitian yang relevan terhadap isu strategis daerah dan nasional. Salah satunya adalah dosen Prodi S1 Statistika, Dr. Pepi Novianti, S.Si., M.Si., yang memaparkan penelitian berjudul “Pemetaan Risiko Gempa Bumi dengan Pendekatan Spatial Extreme Value Berbasis Copula dalam Mitigasi Bencana Alam di Provinsi Bengkulu”. Penelitian tersebut menyoroti pemanfaatan metode statistika spasial untuk mendukung upaya mitigasi bencana berbasis data.

Selain itu, penelitian terkait pengembangan metode statistika Small Area Estimation (SAE) untuk analisis kemiskinan dan pemodelan regresi nonparametrik spasial juga dipresentasikan oleh Dr. Etis Sunandi, S.Si., M.Si. dan Dr. Idhia Sriliana, S.Si., M.Si.. Sementara itu, Dr. Yulian Fauzi, S.Si., M.Si. memaparkan integrasi kearifan lokal dan teknologi WebGIS dalam mitigasi bencana tsunami di wilayah pesisir Bengkulu. Seluruh rangkaian pemaparan dipandu oleh Prof. Dr. Jose Rizal, S.Si., M.Si. sebagai moderator.

Kegiatan berlangsung interaktif dengan sesi diskusi dan tanya jawab yang aktif, mencerminkan antusiasme peserta dalam menggali metode, temuan, serta kontribusi ilmiah dari setiap penelitian yang disajikan. Diseminasi ini tidak hanya menjadi sarana berbagi hasil penelitian, tetapi juga membuka peluang kolaborasi riset lintas bidang serta pengembangan penelitian lanjutan.

Melalui kegiatan ini, Program Studi S1 Statistika menegaskan komitmennya dalam mendukung penguatan budaya akademik, pengembangan metode statistika terapan, serta kontribusi keilmuan yang berdampak nyata bagi masyarakat. Ke depan, kegiatan diseminasi diharapkan dapat terus dilaksanakan secara berkelanjutan dan melibatkan mahasiswa sebagai bagian dari penguatan atmosfer riset dan pembelajaran berbasis penelitian di Prodi S1 Statistika.
