TRACER STUDY REPORT OF GRADUATES

One indicator of the success of higher education implementing a higher education system, is the success of alumni in the world of work. One way to find out the condition of alumni is to do a tracer study. Tracer study or alumni tracking is information gathering activities of alumni regarding the competencies needed by stakeholders as material for the process of improving education. Tracer study is conducted for alumni who have graduated for two years because it is considered that time has described the condition of alumni in the world of work.

The results of the tracer study are information related to the journey of graduates in the world of work that can be used as an evaluation and reference material to assess the quality of education. In addition, tracer studies can be used to make educational planning and leadership decisions in improving the existing education system.

According to the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, the tracer study is intended to trace the traces of graduates /alumni carried out 2 years after graduation and aims to find out:

  1. Educational output in the form of transition from higher education to the world of work (including the waiting period for work and the first job search process), the last job situation, and the application of competencies in the world of work.
  2. The output of education is self-assessment of the mastery and acquisition of competence.
  3. The educational process is in the form of evaluating the learning process and the contribution of higher education to the acquisition of competence. The results of the tracer study will help PT in knowing the position of graduates who have been absorbed in the world of work and prepare graduates according to the competencies needed in the world of work. The results of the tracer study which are then reported to Higher Education will assist the Government’s program in order to map the needs of the world of work with the development of education in Indonesia
