
Strengthening Academic Synergy, Coordinator of the Undergraduate Statistics Program at UNIB Attends Monitoring and Evaluation of FMIPA–BMKG Collaboration/ Tingkatkan Sinergi Akademik, Koordinator Prodi S1 Statistika UNIB Hadiri Monev Kerjasama FMIPA dan BMKG
BENGKULU, March 4, 2026 – The Coordinator of the Undergraduate Statistics Program at the University of Bengkulu (UNIB), Dr. Pepi Novianti, S.Si., M.Si., attended the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the 2024–2025 period between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), University of Bengkulu, and the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The activity took place on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the BMKG Office of Bengkulu Province, Bengkulu Climatology Station.
The event was also attended by the Vice Dean III of FMIPA UNIB for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Arif Ismaul Hadi, S.Si., M.Si., along with the Coordinator of the FMIPA Cooperation Unit, Dr. Ulfasari Rafflesia, S.Si., M.Si., and the Coordinator of the Undergraduate Physics Program, Supiyati, S.Si., M.Si. The presence of faculty leaders and program coordinators reflects FMIPA UNIB’s strong commitment to ensuring that the collaboration with BMKG is implemented optimally.
This monitoring and evaluation activity aimed to review the effectiveness of the ongoing collaborative programs and to formulate strategic steps to strengthen their implementation through the end of 2025. Key programs discussed included the development of joint research, student internship programs under the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) scheme, the utilization of meteorological, climatological, and geophysical data for statistical analysis, and the enhancement of community service activities.
The Coordinator of the Undergraduate Statistics Program at UNIB stated that collaboration with BMKG provides significant benefits for the development of both student and faculty competencies. Access to weather, climate, and earthquake data offers broad opportunities for advancing data-driven research in the field of statistics.
The discussion also highlighted opportunities for research collaboration using earthquake data, particularly in developing statistical methods to understand earthquake occurrence patterns, modeling extreme events, and conducting disaster risk analysis in Bengkulu, a region located in an active seismic zone. The utilization of geophysical data from BMKG is expected to support the development of statistical research relevant to disaster mitigation needs.
In addition, the collaboration between FMIPA UNIB and BMKG is directed toward supporting community service initiatives, such as improving public literacy on weather and climate data, disaster mitigation awareness programs, and enhancing public understanding of meteorological and climatological information. These efforts are expected to improve community preparedness in facing potential natural disasters in the Bengkulu region.
Through this monitoring and evaluation activity, it is hoped that the collaboration between the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Bengkulu, and BMKG will continue to grow and provide tangible benefits in education, research, and community service—particularly in the utilization of meteorological, climatological, and geophysical data to support data-driven regional development.



BENGKULU, 4 Maret 2026 – Koordinator Program Studi S1 Statistika Universitas Bengkulu (UNIB), Dr. Pepi Novianti, S.Si., M.Si., menghadiri kegiatan Monitoring dan Evaluasi (Monev) Perjanjian Kerja Sama (PKS) periode 2024–2025 antara Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA) Universitas Bengkulu dengan Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG). Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan pada Rabu, 4 Maret 2026 di Kantor BMKG Provinsi Bengkulu, Stasiun Klimatologi Bengkulu.
Kegiatan tersebut turut dihadiri oleh Wakil Dekan III FMIPA UNIB Bidang Kemahasiswaan, Alumni, dan Kerja Sama, Prof. Dr. Arif Ismaul Hadi, S.Si., M.Si., bersama Koordinator Unit Kerja Sama FMIPA, Dr. Ulfasari Rafflesia, S.Si., M.Si., serta Koordinator Program Studi S1 Fisika, Supiyati, S.Si., M.Si. Kehadiran pimpinan fakultas dan program studi ini menunjukkan komitmen FMIPA UNIB dalam memastikan implementasi kerja sama dengan BMKG berjalan secara optimal.
Monitoring dan evaluasi ini bertujuan untuk meninjau efektivitas pelaksanaan berbagai program kerja sama yang telah berjalan serta merumuskan langkah strategis untuk penguatan implementasi kerja sama hingga akhir periode 2025. Beberapa program yang menjadi fokus pembahasan antara lain pengembangan riset bersama, program magang mahasiswa dalam skema Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM), pemanfaatan data meteorologi, klimatologi, dan geofisika untuk analisis statistik, serta penguatan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat.
Koordinator Prodi S1 Statistika UNIB menyampaikan bahwa kerja sama dengan BMKG memberikan manfaat besar bagi pengembangan kompetensi mahasiswa dan dosen. Akses terhadap data cuaca, iklim, serta data kejadian gempa bumi memberikan peluang luas bagi pengembangan penelitian berbasis data di bidang statistika.
Dalam diskusi tersebut juga dibahas peluang kolaborasi penelitian menggunakan data gempa bumi, khususnya dalam pengembangan metode analisis statistik untuk memahami pola kejadian gempa, pemodelan kejadian ekstrem, serta analisis risiko bencana di wilayah Bengkulu yang berada pada zona seismik aktif. Pemanfaatan data geofisika dari BMKG diharapkan dapat mendukung pengembangan riset statistika yang relevan dengan kebutuhan mitigasi bencana.
Selain itu, kerja sama antara FMIPA UNIB dan BMKG juga diarahkan untuk mendukung kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat, seperti edukasi literasi data cuaca dan iklim, sosialisasi mitigasi bencana, serta peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap informasi meteorologi dan klimatologi. Kegiatan ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kesiapsiagaan masyarakat dalam menghadapi potensi bencana alam di wilayah Bengkulu.
Melalui kegiatan monitoring dan evaluasi ini, diharapkan kerja sama antara FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu dan BMKG dapat terus berkembang dan memberikan manfaat nyata dalam bidang pendidikan, penelitian, serta pengabdian kepada masyarakat, khususnya dalam pemanfaatan data meteorologi, klimatologi, dan geofisika untuk mendukung pembangunan daerah berbasis data.
