
Chemistry Undergraduate Program of The University of Bengkulu Holds Public Lecture on Magnetic Materials for Health and Environmental Remediation Applications
Bengkulu, September 2, 2025 – The Undergraduate Chemistry Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, The University of Bengkulu, organized a Public Lecture entitled “The Potential Development of Magnetic Materials for Applications in Health and Environmental Remediation” on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. The event was conducted in a hybrid format, combining an onsite session at the FMIPA Dean’s Meeting Room and online participation via Zoom.
The public lecture featured Prof. Dr. Poedji Loekitowati Hariani from Sriwijaya University as the main speaker. The session took place from 09:00 to 10:30 WIB and was attended by lecturers and students of the Chemistry Undergraduate Program. The event was hosted by Prof. Dr. Sal Prima Yudha S. from the University of Bengkulu.

During the lecture, Prof. Dr. Poedji Loekitowati Hariani discussed the development and application of magnetic materials, particularly magnetic nanoparticles, for environmental remediation and health-related applications. The lecture highlighted the growing research trends in the use of nanoparticles for wastewater treatment, including their role as magnetic adsorbents capable of removing pollutants efficiently. The discussion also covered recent literature findings on the application of spinel ferrites and biogenic magnetic nanoparticles, emphasizing their advantages in separation processes and clean water production.

This public lecture aimed to enrich students’ scientific insight, strengthen their understanding of advanced materials chemistry, and encourage research-oriented learning. The activity reflects the Chemistry Undergraduate Program’s commitment to academic excellence and knowledge dissemination through engagement with distinguished scholars.
