Collaboration Between University of Bengkulu and Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology: XRD Training Drives Research Advancement
Surabaya, October 31, 2024 – To enhance faculty expertise in X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, three lecturers from the University of Bengkulu participated in an intensive training program held at the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology.
The training, conducted from October 28 to October 31, 2024, was part of an inter-institutional collaboration in higher education. The participating lecturers were:
- Prof. Dr. Irfan Gustian, S.Si., M.Si
- Dr. Evi Maryanti, S.Si., M.Si
- Dr. Eka Angasa, S.Si., M.Si
This initiative aimed to enhance the lecturers’ capacity to utilize XRD techniques, particularly in analyzing various samples and specimens. “We hope this training provides us with new knowledge while supporting research development at the University of Bengkulu,” said Dr. Evi Maryanti, one of the participants.

The program was based on a collaboration agreement between the University of Bengkulu and Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, covering activities such as training sessions and expert assignments from Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. Sigit Tri Wicaksono, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., Head of the Department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering at the Faculty of Industrial Technology and Systems Engineering, Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, expressed his appreciation for this partnership.
“This collaboration not only benefits participants academically but also opens opportunities for joint research and publications,” said Sigit.

During the training, participants gained in-depth knowledge of X-ray diffraction analysis, including the use of software provided by the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology. Additionally, they acquired hands-on experience in analyzing samples using XRD technology.
This training is expected to be a stepping stone for further collaboration between the University of Bengkulu and Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology, particularly in research and material technology development. [Vicka Andini/Evi Maryanti]
