Department of Chemistry Trains Laboratory Instrumentation Skills for Final Level Students to Improve Student Competence
In order to increase the competence of students majoring in chemistry after graduation, training in basic laboratory skills and laboratory instrumentation equipment has been carried out since 2019. This training for final year students by involving tutors from lecturers according to their areas of expertise and also involving practitioners from DUDI.
Basic instrumentation training activities including gravimetric and volumetric were trained by bringing in tutors from DUDI who came from BPOM, namely Merki Aliyadi Sunaryo, S.Si.
Advanced skills are trained in the form of UV-Vis and FTIR spectroscopy training. UV-Vis spectroscopy skills include preparation and analysis of standard solutions (standard curves), samples, and interpretation of unknown sample concentrations. This activity was trained by a lecturer (Prof. Sal Prima Yudha) and an assistant (Muhammad Alvin Reagan, S.Si).
Another instrumentation that was trained was the use of the FTIR spectrophotometer which included how to use FTIR and analyze FTIR data. This activity was trained by a lecturer (Deni Agus Triawan, S.Sc., M.Sc) from the Chemistry Department, FMIPA, University of Bengkulu.
