Department of Chemistry UNIB Holds Public Lecture and Practitioner Teaching Program on Biotechnology and Advanced Materials for Impactful Research

The Department of Chemistry, the University of Bengkulu (UNIB), organized a Public Lecture and Practitioner Teaching Program themed “Biotechnology and Advanced Materials Toward Impactful Research” on Friday, 7 November 2025, from 08.00 to 11.30 WIB, at the FMIPA’s Meeting Room, the University of Bengkulu. The event was officially opened by Prof. Sal Prima Yudha S., Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, the University of Bengkulu, who emphasized the importance of strengthening research through collaboration between universities and national research institutions to produce research with tangible societal and industrial impact.

The public lecture featured two distinguished speakers: Dr. Bedah Rupaedah, M.Si., from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and Prof. Atiek Rostika Noviyanti from Universitas Padjadjaran. The speakers discussed current developments in biotechnology and advanced materials, strategies for building impactful research, and opportunities for research collaboration between academics and research institutions. This activity was also part of the implementation of the Practitioner Teaching Program, which aims to enhance academic insight by integrating practical experience from leading researchers and practitioners into higher education.

The discussion session was conducted interactively and moderated by Eduwin Saputra, S.Pd., M.Sc. Various strategic issues were addressed, including future research directions, collaborative research opportunities, and efforts to improve the quality and relevance of research outputs. Through this activity, the Department of Chemistry UNIB expects to strengthen a collaborative research culture, enhance the quality of academic research, and encourage the development of biotechnology and advanced materials that contribute meaningfully to scientific advancement and national development.
