The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Bengkulu holds an exclusive general lecture on Environmental Learning

BengkuluThe Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, The University of Bengkulu, successfully organized an exclusive General Lecture entitled “Learning from Earth, for Something Greater” on January 20th, 2026. The lecture was specifically designed for second-semester students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and was conducted online, accommodating both Indonesian and Indian time zones, starting at 10:00 a.m. Indonesian Time and 8:30 a.m. Indian Time.

The general lecture featured Dr. Satyanarayan Shashtri, Dean of the School of Ecology and Environment Studies, Nalanda University, India, as the keynote speaker. In his presentation, Dr. Shashtri shared insights on learning from Earth systems to address broader environmental and societal challenges, including discussions on remote sensing, geospatial technology, and environmental observation systems. His lecture emphasized the importance of understanding Earth processes as a foundation for sustainable development and scientific advancement. The session was moderated by Dr. Risky Hadi Wibowo, who guided the discussion and facilitated an interactive exchange between the keynote speaker and participants. The event was officially hosted by Prof. Morina Adfa, S.Si., M.Si, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, The University of Bengkulu, demonstrating strong institutional support for enhancing students’ international academic exposure.

The lecture was attended enthusiastically by students, as reflected in the active discussions and engagement throughout the session, including live presentations and question-and-answer segments. The activity provided participants with valuable international perspectives and strengthened their understanding of environmental science, ecology, and geospatial applications in addressing real-world problems.
