Geophysics Lecturers Join FMIPA UNIB Promotion Team to Inspire Future Scientists
As part of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Bengkulu’s initiative to broaden access to higher education information, a series of school outreach programs were held from 4 to 7 February 2025 across high schools in Bengkulu and South Sumatra Provinces. The activity aimed to introduce FMIPA UNIB and its admission pathways, including SNBP, SNBT, and Mandiri.
Representing the Geophysics Study Program in this promotion team were Refrizon, S.Si., M.Si. and Budi Harlianto, S.Si., M.Sc., who visited schools in North Bengkulu, Lebong, Rejang Lebong, and Kepahiang Regencies. With enthusiasm and commitment, the team presented FMIPA’s academic profile, institutional excellence, and prospective career paths offered to future students.
FMIPA UNIB, as the largest public university in Bengkulu Province, has earned national accreditation from BAN-PT and international recognition from ACQUIN, Germany, which further underscores the quality of its academic programs.
The promotion team conducted classroom sessions with Grade XII students, delivering interactive presentations on curriculum strengths, learning facilities, and real-life experiences in higher education. The sessions were met with lively engagement, particularly when discussing Geophysics topics such as coal and gold exploration, groundwater studies, earthquake monitoring, and career opportunities in civil service and education.
Students showed high interest in the practical applications of Geophysics, especially the various methods used in subsurface exploration. The outreach not only served as an information session but also as a forum for inspiration and direct dialogue between students and university lecturers.
Through this initiative, FMIPA UNIB hopes to ignite students’ motivation to pursue higher education, especially in the field of Geophysics, and to support them in taking the first step toward a brighter academic and professional future.
