The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Bengkulu (FMIPA UNIB) was approved based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia number 195/O/1999 dated 10 August 1999 concerning the establishment of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Bengkulu. FMIPA UNIB accepted its first students in 2001 with the opening of four study programs at once, namely the Mathematics Study Program, the Biology Study Program, the Physics Study Program, and the Chemistry Study Program.

The Undergraduate-Mathematics Study Program (Prodi) received operational permits based on the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia with number SK 2293/D/T2001 dated 4 July 2001. Based on this decree, in 2001 the Undergraduate-Mathematics Study Program began accepting new students through the independent exam.

Since then, it has continued to admit students every year.There are three admission routes in this mathematics study program, namely the test-based national selection path, the talent-based national selection path, and the local selection path. The test-based national selection path is called SBMPTN, the talent-based national selection path is called SNMPTN, and the local selection path is called SMMPTN. The quota for student admissions based on the type of selection is 40% SNMPTN, 40% SBMPTN, and 20% SMMPTN.

Currently, the S1-Mathematics study program has been accredited with B accreditation based on BAN-PT Decree No. 8877/SK/BAN-PT/Ak-PPJ/S/VI/2021 and this study program accreditation certificate is valid from 18 June 2021 until 18 June 2026
