a. Study Program Profile
The Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bengkulu University (FMIPA
UNIB) was ratified on the basis of the Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of
the Republic of Indonesia number 195/O/1999 on August 10, 1999 regarding the
establishment of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Bengkulu
University. FMIPA UNIB accepted its first student in 2001 with the opening of four study
programs at once, namely the Mathematics Study Program, Biology Study Program,
Physics Study Program and Chemistry Study Program.
The S1-Mathematics Study Program received an operational permit based on the
Decree of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia number SK
2293/D/T2001 on July 4, 2001. Based on this decree, in 2001 the S1-Mathematics Study
Program began accepting new students through the self test. Currently the S1-
Mathematics Study Program has approximately 230 active students. There are 10
lecturers that home base in the S1-Mathematics Study Program with detailed data as follows :

b. Vision, Mission, and Objectives of Study Program
Vision:
Becoming a study program that excels in tri dharma activities in the field of mathematics
and its applications at the Southeast Asian level in 2025.
Mision:
a. Achieve excellence at the Southeast Asian level in the teaching and learning process
of mathematics so as to produce graduates with professional abilities according to
the times through the creation of an academic atmosphere that is conducive to the
intellectual, professional and personality development of staff and students.
b. Carry out research and development of mathematics that results in intellectual
property rights and/or national and international publications.
c. Building a network of cultural and educational exchange of knowledge, technology,
and resources with various national and international institutions.
Objectives:
The Mathematics Study Program of FMIPA UNIB aims to produce Mathematics
graduates who have the following qualifications:
1) Able to develop mathematical thinking starting from procedural/computing
understanding to broad understanding, logical reasoning, generalization,
abstraction, and formal proof;
2) Able to observe, recognize, formulate, and solve problems through a
mathematical approach with or without the help of software;
3) Able to reconstruct, modify, analyze/think in a structured manner to the
mathematical problems of a system/problem, assess accuracy and interpret them;
4) Able to utilize various alternative mathematical problem solving that has been
available independently or in groups for appropriate decision making;
5) Able to adapt or develop themselves, both in mathematics and other relevant
fields.
c. History of Study Program
The Mathematics Study Program is one of the study programs under the Mathematics
Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bengkulu University. The
opening of the S1-Mathematics Study Program was based on the Decree of the Directorate
of Higher Education No. 2293/D/T/2001 on July 4, 2001. S1-Mathematics Study Program has
a vision which is derived from the vision of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences,
through restrictions on the field of mathematics, which is also a specification of Unib’s
vision, through accommodation in the field of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The vision
of the S1-Mathematics Study Program is the perspective of the study program’s desire to
become a study program that excels in tri dharma activities in the field of mathematics
and its application at the Southeast Asian level. As the operational unit of higher education
institutions, the mission of the S1-Mathematics Study Program is elaborated into tri dharma
perguruan tinggi, namely education, research, and community service. At a more
operational level, the three missions are reflected in the formulation of objectives which are
further elaborated in a curriculum that combines the substance of knowledge and skills
according to the latest science and technology developments to prepare graduates of study
programs with superior competence in the field of mathematics.
