ICMSOES 2025 at Universitas Bengkulu Brings Together 50 Global Institutions to Advance Science-Based Energy Innovation
Universitas Bengkulu (Unib) gained international recognition by hosting the International Conference on Mathematical and Statistical Modeling, Simulation, and Optimization of Energy Systems (ICMSOES), held on June 17–18, 2025. This prestigious conference involved more than 50 institutions from various countries and focused on the development of global energy solutions through scientific and technological approaches.

The conference was organized through a collaboration between the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) Universitas Bengkulu, and Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jalandhar, Punjab, India. The event was further supported by the ASEAN–India Network (AINU-FEP), with Nalanda University serving as the nodal institution.
ICMSOES 2025 was officially opened by the Rector of Universitas Bengkulu, Dr. Retno Agustina Ekaputri, S.E., M.Sc., at the main meeting room of the Rectorate Building on Tuesday morning, June 17, 2025. The opening ceremony was marked by the symbolic beating of the dol, a traditional musical instrument from Bengkulu, accompanied by university leaders and distinguished guests from India.

In her opening remarks, the Rector emphasized that the conference serves as an important platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners worldwide to exchange ideas and formulate innovations in energy systems using mathematical and statistical approaches. She also expressed her pride in Universitas Bengkulu’s role as host and active participant in the global scientific community.
Representing NIT Jalandhar, Dr. R. Sivaraj conveyed his appreciation for the strong collaboration with Universitas Bengkulu. He explained that ICMSOES is part of the AINU-FEP faculty exchange program, which aims to bring together international experts to discuss recent trends in modeling and optimization of energy systems.
Dr. Sivaraj further highlighted that ICMSOES 2025 featured 63 speakers from around the world, more than 100 paper presentations, and approximately 80 participants from institutions across Indonesia, India, ASEAN countries, and other regions. He also attended the conference in person together with several speakers from India and held an official meeting with Universitas Bengkulu’s leadership prior to the event.

The conference was conducted in a hybrid format across 12 parallel sessions, featuring two keynote speakers and 15 invited speakers presenting onsite, along with 48 online presentations. Participants came from a wide range of countries, including India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Burkina Faso, Australia, Malaysia, Oman, Italy, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, the United States, South Africa, Singapore, South Korea, Botswana, Trinidad and Tobago, Egypt, Taiwan, and Indonesia.
According to the Conference Chair, Dr. Ramya Rachmawati, ICMSOES 2025 brought together distinguished scholars and researchers in the fields of mathematics, statistics, and energy systems from leading universities and research institutions worldwide.

She also noted that selected high-quality papers from the conference will be published in international proceedings by NOVA Publishing, contributing to the advancement of global science and technology. ICMSOES 2025 stands as clear evidence of Universitas Bengkulu’s commitment to supporting multidisciplinary research for future energy solutions while strengthening its international standing.
