On September 12, 2024, four students from the S-1 Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bengkulu University, participated in the Student Exchange program in the framework of the Merdeka Campus Competition Program (PKKM). The four students are Avrilia Cezar Pinkaleijh, Aisyah Kinasih Sardi, Aisyah Yurike Dewi Barokah and Salza Salsabila. They were delivered directly by Bengkulu University Lecturer, Dr. Jose Rizal S.Si., M.Si, to Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD). The ceremony took place at the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology (FAST), Ahmad Dahlan University. On this occasion, the Vice Dean of FAST in the fields of human resources, finance, property and general administration, Mrs. Ambar Pratiwi, S.Si., M.Sc., Head of Mathematics Department, Mr. Joko Purwadi, S.Si., M.Sc., and Secretary of FAST Mathematics Department, Mrs. Safika Maranti, S.HI., M.E., were also present to welcome the students.
This program is part of a collaborative effort between Bengkulu University Mathematics Study Program and UAD Mathematics Study Program. The program aims to introduce students to a different academic atmosphere, expand networks, and provide valuable new experiences for self-development.
During the program, the four students will attend five courses, namely Multivariate Calculus, Algebraic Structure 1, Mathematical Statistics, Numerical Methods and English (conversion to Mathematical English). The courses are designed to provide a deep understanding in various areas of mathematics. In addition, students are also expected to develop critical thinking, problem-solving and analytical skills that will be very useful in their future careers. By joining this program, students not only gain academic experience, but also learn to adapt to new environments, develop soft skills, and strengthen their mentality of hard work and independence.
This program not only provides an opportunity to broaden academic horizons, but also strengthens relationships between universities in Indonesia. The hope is that students can gain new experiences that are useful, both academically and personally, which can be applied in the development of mathematics in the future. Bengkulu University and Ahmad Dahlan University also hope that this collaboration will be the first step to establish closer partnerships in the future, including in the fields of research and community service.
