Independent Campus Program, Student Exchange at Padang State University

On August 22, 2024, four students from the Bachelor of Mathematics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bengkulu University to take part in the Student Exchange program in the framework of the Merdeka Campus Competition Program (PKKM). The four students are Della Anggraini, Sofi Maryati, Intan Nurrahmi Maulidini and Taufik Ahmad. They were delivered directly by Bengkulu University Lecturer, Mrs. Siska Yosmar, S.Si, M.Sc to Padang State University (UNP). The handover ceremony took place at the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Padang State University. On this occasion, the Head of the UNP Mathematics Department, Dr. Suherman, S.Pd, M.Si, and Dr. Riry Sriningsih, S.Si., M.Sc were also present to welcome the students.
This program is part of a collaborative effort between Bengkulu University Mathematics Study Program and UNP Mathematics Study Program. This program aims to introduce students to a different academic atmosphere, expand networks, and provide valuable new experiences for self-development.

During the program, two third semester students will follow eight courses, namely Ordinary Differential Equations, Multivariable Calculus, Linear Program, Numerical Methods, Mathematical Modeling (Hybrid), Algebraic Structures, Financial Mathematics and English for Mathematics and two fifth semester students will follow seven courses, namely: Numerical Analysis, Number Theory, Real Analysis, Operations Research, Research Methods, Fuzzy Sets and Logic and Introduction to Dynamical Systems. The courses are designed to provide a deep understanding in various fields of mathematics. In addition, students are also expected to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills that will be very useful in their future careers. By joining this program, students not only gain academic experience, but also learn to adapt to new environments, develop soft skills, and strengthen their mentality of hard work and independence.

This program not only provides an opportunity to broaden academic horizons, but also strengthens relationships between universities in Indonesia. It is hoped that the students can gain useful new experiences, both academically and personally, which can be applied in the development of mathematics in the future. Bengkulu University and Padang State University also hope that this collaboration will be the first step to establish closer partnerships in the future, including in the fields of research and community service.
