Independent Campus Program, Student Exchange at Sriwijaya University, Palembang

On August 19, 2024, four students from the Bachelor of Mathematics program at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Bengkulu University, participated in a Student Exchange initiative under the Merdeka Campus Competition Program (PKKM). The students are Annisa Deviani, Della Putri Salsabila, Dwi Cantika, and Elsa Fauziah were accompanied by Bengkulu University lecturer, Mr. Rahmat Nursalim, S.Pd, M.Si, to Sriwijaya University (UNSRI). The official handover was held in the Meeting Room of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at UNSRI, attended by Dr. Hasanudin, S.Si., M.Si., Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs; Dr. Dian Cahayawati Sukanda, S.Si., M.Si., Head of the Mathematics Department; and Des Alwine Zayanti, S.Si., M.Si., Secretary of the Mathematics Study Program.

This program represents a collaborative effort between the Mathematics Study Programs of Bengkulu University and Sriwijaya University, aiming to expose students to a different academic environment, expand professional networks, and gain meaningful new experiences for personal and academic growth.

Throughout the program, the students will engage in eight courses: Calculus III, Numerical Methods, Financial Mathematics, Ordinary Differential Equations, Linear Programming, Graph Theory, Algebraic Structures I, and Mathematical Modeling. These courses are designed to deepen their understanding of various mathematical disciplines while honing critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills essential for future careers. Beyond academics, the program encourages students to adapt to new environments, develop soft skills, and build resilience and independence.

This initiative not only enhances academic collaboration but also fosters stronger inter-university relations in Indonesia. It is anticipated that the students will gain valuable academic and personal experiences that can contribute to the advancement of mathematics in the future. Both Bengkulu University and Sriwijaya University aspire for this collaboration to pave the way for more extensive partnerships, including joint research and community service programs, in the years to come.
