Workshop : Case Method and Team-Based Learning Project

Professional development of lecturers is very important for the progress of the Bachelor of Mathematics Study Program FMIPA Bengkulu University. On 24th November, 2023, Bengkulu University, especially the Bachelor of Mathematics Study Program, held a workshop entitled Case Method and Team-Based Learning Project, by presenting Prof. Dr. H. Yaya Sukjaya Kusumah, M.Sc, Professor of the University of Education Indonesia as our speaker. The workshop was attended by the entire academic community of the Bachelor of Mathematics Study Program. The event was held virtually with the aim of improving the pedagogical of the lecturers to improve the quality of teaching to provide learning outcomes that are in accordance with learning goals through innovation and creativity.

Case method learning model is an approach that focuses on the study of real cases or simulations of complex situations. It aims to develop students’s understanding, analysis, and problem-solving skills through exploration and discussion of real-world problems that makes the case as the center of learning through discussion, critical thinking, collaboration, varied case studies, active learning and the use of technology. Team-Based Learning Project is group-based learning to complete a specific project to give students roles and responsibilities.

The workshop provided training for lecturers to be able to apply the case method and team-based learning project in order to adjust the learning method to the objectives of the independent curriculum.

That is, learning that involves student learning experiences at the university level because it combines theory and practice directly.
