Pharmacy Goes To School: Promoting Health and Pharmacy Careers to the Next Generation

The Student Association of the Bachelor of Pharmacy Program at the University of Bengkulu (HIMAFAS1 UNIB) successfully held the event “Pharmacy Goes To School” from February 2 to 14, 2025. With the theme “Your Health, Your Future: Careers in Pharmacy,” this outreach initiative aimed to provide a deeper introduction to the university and the pharmacy program, as well as to raise awareness about health and the diverse career opportunities in pharmacy.

The program visited several high schools across Bengkulu, including SMAN 1, SMAN 2, SMAN 7, SMAN 10, SMKS 16, MAN 1, MAN Insan Cendekia (IC), and SMA IT Al Hasanah. Each visit included presentations by pharmacy students, interactive discussions, health education sessions, and personal sharing of academic experiences to inspire students to pursue higher education, particularly in the field of pharmacy.

The event received enthusiastic responses from both students and school staff. Many participants expressed newfound interest in studying pharmacy after learning about its vital role in healthcare, pharmaceutical research, community service, and innovation.

According to the committee, “Pharmacy Goes To School” is not only a platform for promoting the university and its programs, but also a form of community engagement that encourages early awareness of health and science among youth.

The event reflects HIMAFAR UNIB’s commitment to education, health promotion, and leadership development through meaningful social outreach activities. It is expected that this annual event will continue to grow and reach more schools in the coming years, inspiring future generations to become part of the healthcare solution.
