STAGES OF ACCREDITATION TO THE PHYSICS STUDY PROGRAM AT THE NATIONAL HIGHER EDUCATION OF ACCREDITATION BOARD (BAN-PT)
Higher education accreditation determined by the National Higher Education Accreditation Board (BAN-PT) is valid for five years and will be renewed for all study programs at the university. This request is regulated by Law no. 20 of 2003 regarding the national education system Article 61. With this accreditation, it is the government’s effort to guarantee the quality of an educational institution by an independent institution, here BAN-PT. The accreditation figure proves that teaching and teaching activities comply with quality assurance standards.
The preparation of accreditation forms for higher education institutions and study programs is carried out following the concepts and philosophies underlying the academic and professional services of higher education, as well as the management of higher education. The forms are data and information collection and disclosure tools used by BAN-PT to assess the quality and feasibility of higher education institutions.
In general, the preparation of the forms by the establishments is carried out according to the following steps:

The presentation of the data and information on the accreditation form will later determine the assessor in awarding the score. The Internal Quality Assurance System, or SPMI for short, is a quality control tool each year for the internal parts of the university. The implementation of SPMI is essential based on the awareness of internal parties that the accreditation assessment process is ongoing. The assessment of the seven established standards for the accreditation of study programs is Standard 1. Vision, mission, goals, and objectives, as well as strategies for achieving them, Standard 2. Governance, leadership, management systems, and quality assurance, Standard 3. Students and graduates, Standard 4. Human resource resources, Standard 5. Curriculum, learning, and academic atmosphere, Standard 6. Funding, facilities and infrastructure, and information systems, Standard 7. Research, service/community service, and cooperation. Filling out this form is meant to know an accurate picture of the state and performance of the university. You should know that the curriculum form gets the highest score of 75%. The self-evaluation of the study program obtains a share of 10%, while for the portfolio of a faculty or a high school, 15%.
The Higher Education Online Accreditation System (SAPTO) is an integrated system with the Higher Education Database (PDPT) that facilitates the interaction between BAN-PT and higher education institutions within the SAPTO system. SAPTO connects universities to BAN-PT as well as assessors, who are all major users of SAPTO. After compiling the form, the registration process and the annoying data upload are done. BAN-PT, through its account, will direct the uploaded file for the online suitability assessment to each assessor determined directly by BAN-PT. After that, it will continue with a field assessment where the BAN-PT assessor will visit the PT and study program concerned. Once all the processes have been completed and evaluated, the higher education institution can check the progress of its accreditation through the higher education SAPTO. Furthermore, this filed document consists of a self-assessment report and a study program performance report.
In 2020, there will be a new policy regarding the establishment accreditation process. The re-accreditation program is automatic for all degrees and is voluntary for universities and study programs that are ready to upgrade. “Application for re-accreditation of PT and study programs is limited to no later than 2 years after the last accreditation was obtained. For B and C, accredited higher education institutions can apply for an increase in the accreditation at any time The file upload status must have been received by the SAPTO application no later than 6 months before the accreditation decree. An extension of the accreditation decree is issued if (1) the study program/university is active on the basis of PDDIKTI data (2) the study program must respect the number of teachers according to the following provisions: 1. The minimum number of faculty in a study program is 5 with qualifications and expertise appropriate. 2. Have students register with PDDIKTI. 3. The highest student-faculty ratio is 1:60 for S1 and Diploma, 1:20 for S2 academic and 1:30 for applied S2, and 1:10 for S3. Regarding the results of re-accreditation, study programs and universities that have received the same accreditation score as before can offer re-accreditation to BAN-PT within two years of obtaining the latest accreditation note. On the other hand, for universities that do not re-accredit after five years, the Ministry of Education and Culture will renew their accreditation even without applying for an extension.
