Physics Student Association Holds ArcGIS Workshop at the Physics Study Program
The Physics Student Association (HIMAFI) organized an ArcGIS Workshop at the Physics Study Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), University of Bengkulu. This activity aimed to enhance students’ competencies in spatial data processing and analysis using ArcGIS software, which is widely applied in research, disaster management, and mapping.
The workshop was attended by students of the Physics Study Program and was conducted in an interactive manner through material presentations and hands-on practice. The topics covered included an introduction to ArcGIS, spatial data processing, map visualization, and the application of ArcGIS in physics and earth science studies, particularly in the areas of geophysics and disaster mitigation.
Through this activity, students are expected to gain an understanding of the fundamental concepts of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and to apply ArcGIS as a supporting tool in academic activities, research projects, and final thesis preparation. The workshop also served as a platform for students to develop technical skills that are relevant to current professional and industry needs.
The Physics Study Program expressed its appreciation to the Physics Student Association for its initiative and contribution in organizing this student competency development activity. It is hoped that similar workshops can be conducted regularly to support the continuous improvement of the quality and competitiveness of Physics Study Program graduates.
