LECTURER RESEARCH PROJECT
The physics study program has eighteen lecturers who actively carry out research activities. The research is related to the physics study program’s three main areas: the faculty of mathematics and natural sciences, the University of Bengkulu, earth physics, oceanography, and instrumentation. Furthermore, the research conducted also supports Bengkulu University’s research master plan related to tropical rain forests, renewable energy, and disasters. The research interest of each lecturer can be seen on the page of each lecturer or here. Then, the research was also funded by international, national, regional, and local funding organizations.
STUDENT RESEARCH PROJECT
The physics study program has three areas of specialization, namely earth physics, marine physics (oceanography) and instrumentation. Earth physics area related to earth investigations such as disaster mitigation, natural resources exploration, modelling related earth physics etc. Marine physics or oceanography focuses on studies marine science which includes the physical properties of sea water and its movement and also related to the climate change phenomenon. While instrumentation area focus on is measurement and control system, automation, wireless sensor network, various prototypes for the investigation of physical phenomena etc. These three areas of specialization are relevant to be applied because Bengkulu Province has natural resources that support it. Bengkulu Province is located along the west coast of Sumatra, allowing students to conduct marine research. Additionally, Bengkulu province is an area within the “Ring fire” zone or the Ring of Fire which follows the meeting points of many tectonic plates. Moreover, the availability of a simple technology such as prototype etc for the community is also a field of research specialization in instrumentation. Moreover, the realization of these different research’s is also supported by the availability of various equipment that can be used by students in their graduation project.
