
Benchmarking of Biology Master Study Program, FMIPA UNIB to Biology Department, FMIPA Malang University (UM)
The development of the Biology Master’s Study Program is directed towards advancements in science and technology, the state of regional natural resources, and the evolving needs of stakeholders. Educational institutions require that many learning activities not only stem from classroom lectures but also be based on problem-solving and knowledge sharing from practitioners and lecturers from outside the campus. Therefore, it is essential to be supported by a quality curriculum to produce graduates who meet expectations with benchmarking activity.
This benchmarking activity/agenda aims to increase insight into the development of learning curriculum and the study program accreditation, especially in the Biology Master’s Study Program. The goal’s to compare the curriculum and study for re-accreditation between the Biology Master’s Study Program of the University of Bengkulu and the Biology Master’s Study Program of UM, to obtain references and information regarding curriculum development, to establish cooperation and good relations, and to strategize to achieve excellent accreditation in the future. This activity is organized by the Department of Biology, FMIPA, University of Bengkulu (UNIB) with FMIPA, University of Malang (UM), Malang, Indonesia.
The Biology Master’s Study Program at FMIPA UNIB conducted a Curriculum Benchmarking and Accreditation Review visit to the Biology Department at FMIPA UM on December 4, 2024, with the aim of gaining an overview of the management of research studies and the re-accreditation of the Biology Study Program. To support the preparation for the accreditation of the Biology Master’s Study Program at FMIPA UNIB, many preparations need to be carried out properly.
This benchmarking activity was welcomed directly by the Vice Dean of education, student and alumni affairs, Vice Dean of planning, resources, and business affairs, the Head of the Biology Master Study Program, the Head of the Biology Laboratory, and UM staff who helped provide an overview of the curriculum, research studies, and accreditation review in the Biology Department at FMIPA UM.
