
Dr. ir. Dr. Yuwono Budi Pratiknyo S.T., M.T talked about the Environmental Crisis at the General Lecture of Biology Department, FMIPA UNIB.
Bengkulu, February 08, 2024 – Department of Biology FMIPA Bengkulu University held a public lecture with the theme “Environmental Crisis and opportunities for Biology graduates in overcoming its problems”. The event was held on Tuesday, February 06, 2024 starting at 08.30-11.30 A.M in the main meeting room of the Dean’s Building FMIPA UNIB which was opened by the Dean of FMIPA Dr. Jarulis S.Si., M.Si. The public lecture was delivered by speakers who are very experienced, especially in case of environmental impact analysis (AMDAL), he is Dr. Ir. Yuwono Pratiknyo, S.T., M.T IPM. C.EIA. Dr. Yuwono is one of the teaching staff in the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Study Program, Faculty of Engineering, University of Surabaya.
The event that has been scheduled by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Dr. Jarulis, S.Si, M.Si. and the Head of the Biology Department, Dr. Sipriadi, S. Si., M.Si. It was followed very enthusiastically by the participants who attended including undergraduate and postgraduate Biology students and lecturers from the Biology Department of FMIPA UNIB.
Dr. Ir. Yuwono conveyed the importance of understanding the changes that occur in our environment. Environmental crises that occur around us such as climate change, environmental pollution, forest fires, illegal logging, and other natural disasters currently affect many aspects of life and cause negative impacts both directly and indirectly.
The role of biology students and alumni as agents of change can provide many positive contributions to overcome environmental crises such as maintaining nature conservation, planting trees, utilizing waste into useful products and not littering. Starting something useful can start from ourselves, family, surrounding community to the government to keep the earth sustainable and prevent the environmental crisis from getting worse.
