
Students and lecturers of Biology department, FMIPA UNIB joined the 1st Basic and Applied Sciences International Symposium of Tropical and Coastal Research (BASISTORA) 2024 Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Bengkulu, in Bengkulu, Indonesia, 29th August 2024.
Nine students (9 students are graduate students, they are Gustina Dwi Wulandari, S.Si, Reza Wahyuni, S.Si, Dhiatama Tauhida Nisa, S.Si, Thoriqul Hidayah, S.Si, Redo Setiawan, S.Si, Dita Delia Rothman, S.Si, Monika Thamara, S.Si, Lia Putri Maharani, S.Si, Nadiya Lafenia, S.Si and three of them is undergraduate student) and 3 lecturers of Biology Master study program, Dr. Risky Hadi Wibowo, S.Si., M.Si, Dr. Sipriyadi, S.Si., M.Si and Dr. Jarulis, M.Si attended the the 1st Basic and Applied Sciences International Symposium of Tropical and Coastal Research (BASISTORA) 2024 Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Bengkulu, in Bengkulu, Indonesia, 29th August 2024 was located at the Gedung Layanan Terpadu and Deanery of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Bengkulu, in Bengkulu City started at 29th August 2024, this international symposium was organized directly by Faculty of Matematics and Natural Sciences University of Bengkulu. This activity provides a lot of knowledge and greatly increases students academic capacity with the aim of supporting the development of sustainable natural sciences resources.
At the BASISTORA international seminar that was held, two biology master study program’s students received appreciation as the best speakers, namely Reza Wahyuni, S.Si and Dhiatama Tauhida Nisa, S.Si, both offline and online seminars of BASISTORA 2024.
The demands of education require an increase in students’ soft skills and hard skills. One activity that can encourage these abilities is by participating in international seminars held both domestically and abroad. These international seminars are held as a medium to increase students’ insight and communication skills as well as an opportunity to build networks both among students and with other parties with long-term benefits, namely producing graduates who quickly get good positions in the world of work which directly represents their level of income and welfare.
