The Lecturer and Student Mobilities Program of Biology Department Visited QS.100 University (Universiti Malaya)

Implementation Arrangement to University QS.100 (Universiti Malaya) is one of the programs held by Technical Implementation Unit of Partnership and International Affairs (KSLI), University of Bengkulu which is intended for UNIB lecturers and students to implement collaboration with other universities. This year, UNIB is targeting collaboration with Universiti Malaya, which is one of the universities included in Top QS.100 University, and also to implement an MoU between the two universities. The implementation of the collaboration is joint research which aims to support the National Research Master Plan (RIRN). The results of this joint research will produce output such as the scientific publications. This activity aims and is useful for developing research and scientific publications, developing facilities and expertise in emulating a good and quality research culture, as well as increasing research collaboration networks with other universities as an effort to encourage improvements in the quality and quantity of research and outputs/products.

This Lecturer and student Mobilities activity were carried out on 6-10 November 2023. This team members consist of 3 lecturers staff : Dean of FMIPA, Dr Jarulis M.Si, Dr Sipriyadi M.Si (Head of Biology Department), Dr Risky. Hadi wibowo M.Si (as the ccordinator of Biology Master Study Program) and two students from Biology undergraduate student: Raul Fadillon and Biology Master’s student: Redo Setiawan. This activity was carried out at the Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya.

On Monday 6 November 2023, visit the Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya. This activity was welcomed directly by Prof. Mohamad Suffian bin MohamadAnnuar as Head of the Institute of Biological Sciences Department and as the Research Collaborators for UNIB. This activity was carried out by discussing and introducing the institutions between the both of Department, as well as discussing research activities including topics, methods, facilities and infrastructure used, as well as publication output. The next activity was a visit to the Laboratory of the Institute of Biological Sciences Department to see the existing facilities and infrastructure to support research.

On Tuesday 7 November 2023, the activity continued with a visit to the Dean of the Faculty of Science, University of Malaya. This activity was opened directly by the dean, Prof. Dr. Zulqarnain Mohamed, this activity includes the opening, introduction of each university, aims and objectives as well as discussions about activities that will be carried out at the Faculty of Science, namely collaborative research at the Institute of Biological Sciences. On this occasion, souvenirs were also handed over by each university.

Activities continued by conducting research in the Laboratory, 7-9 November 2023. Activities were carried out by following previously planned procedures and methods. Activities were carried out at the Biotechnology Laboratory, Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya.

On November 9-10th, data processing and joint writing of the manuscript which will be published also be carried out by the research team. The discussion includes the results of the interpretation of the data produced and the next plans that will be taken regarding research publications. On November 10, Prof. Mohamad Suffian bin Mohamad Annuar, which marked the end of activities at the Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Malaya, but the output will be coordinated by online meeting.

During the time at the University of Malaya, the UNIB TEAM also visited several academic facilities owned by the Institute of Biological Sciences (IBS), such as the forest of Rimba Ilmu ISB and Biology Mini Farm . Where this activity is a means of academic support, especially research for the Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, this can provide inspiration and good new ideas in planning further collaborative research.
