Biology Department Hosts World Class Professor Lecture From Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya

Held in the the main meeting room of the Integrated Services Building (Gedung Layanan Terpadu, UNIB), the Biology department successfully organized a general lecture with Prof. Rosli bin Ramli, a Professor from the World-class, From Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya  Malaysia. The course focused on the study theme“ Assesing the Potential of Asian Openbill Stork (Anastomus oscitans) in Controlling Apple Snails (Pomacea sp.) population” and was directly moderated by Mrs. Santi Nurul Kamila S.Si., M.Si, an expert lecturer in Zoology (Mammology).

The Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, Prof. Ashar Muda Lubis S.Si, M.Sc, Ph.D, officially opened the event and was introduced by the Head of Biology Department, Dr. sipriyadi M,Si. In this general lecture, Prof. Rosli presented the results of his research, which focused on several species of Asian Openbill Stork that play a crucial role in the biological control of mollusk pests such as the apple snails in rice fields.

He shared case studies highlighting the success of pest control by utilizing the presence of these birds. This public lecture activity was also attended by the dean of FMIPA, Dr, Jarulis, M.Si, lecturers staff and students from the Biology Department, FMIPA UNIB.
