PUBLIC LECTURE "Application of the Heavy Force Method in Tectonics and Resource Studies"

The Department of Physics in collaboration with BRIN has conducted a public lecture with the theme Exploring Inside the Earth on May 22, 2024 at main meeting room of Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Bengkulu. The resource person in this activity was Dr. Lina Handayani, a Senior Researcher at Research Center for Geological Disaster, National Research and Innovation Agency. Dr. Lina Handayani has done a lot of collaboration with lecturers in the Physics Department, namely Prof. Ashar Muda Lubis, S.Si., M.Sc., Ph.D. In addition, there are also several students of Physics Study Program who are students under supervision of Dr. Lina Handayani.
The delivery of this public lecture was entitled “Application of the Heavy Force method in Tectonics and Resource Studies”. Heavy Force is one of the geophysical methods used to describe subsurface geological structures. This method is often used to study structures, bedrock, rock intrusions, and sedimentary basins based on variations in the earth’s gravitational field due to lateral density differences which are then known as gravity anomalies. This workshop was attended by around 50 students of Physics Department.
