MIPA April International Lecture Series 2026
As part of the April International Lecture Series 2026, organized by the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), and in commemoration of the 44th Dies Natalis of Universitas Bengkulu, the Physics Study Program conducted a general lecture featuring one of the invited international speakers.
The general lecture delivered by Anton Ficai from National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest provided a comprehensive overview of the design and fabrication of advanced bone grafting materials, with particular emphasis on their regenerative and antitumoral potential. The discussion was situated within the broader framework of Tissue Engineering, highlighting the critical role of biomaterials in addressing complex clinical challenges in orthopedics and regenerative medicine.
In summary, the lecture highlighted a paradigm shift in biomaterials research—from passive structural substitutes toward smart, multifunctional systems that actively participate in healing and disease management. The integration of biomimetic design, controlled biodegradability, bioactivity, and therapeutic functionality represents the current frontier in bone tissue engineering, offering significant potential for improving patient outcomes in orthopedic and oncological applications.
