Prodi S1 Statistika FMIPA dan Pojok Statistik Universitas Bengkulu Selenggarakan Kuliah Umum dan Edukasi Statistik Bertema Statistical Data Science untuk Analisis Data Genomik dan Data Teks

Bachelor of Statistics Program, FMIPA, and Statistics Corner of Universitas Bengkulu Hold Public Lecture and Statistics Education on Statistical Data Science for Genomic and Text Data Analysis

Bengkulu, July 2, 2026 – The Bachelor of Statistics Program, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Universitas Bengkulu, in collaboration with the Statistics Corner of Universitas Bengkulu, successfully organized an online Public Lecture and Statistics Education session via Zoom Meeting under the theme “Statistical Data Science: Machine Learning for Genomic and Text Data Analysis.” The event attracted undergraduate and graduate students, lecturers, and participants from various universities with interests in statistics, data science, and artificial intelligence.

The event commenced with welcoming remarks from Yosef Oktavianus Sitohang, S.ST., M.Stat., Head of the Statistics Dissemination Division at the Bengkulu Provincial Statistics Office (BPS), representing the Statistics Corner of Universitas Bengkulu. This was followed by remarks from Dr. Pepi Novianti, Coordinator of the Bachelor of Statistics Program, FMIPA, Universitas Bengkulu, who officially declared the event open.

The session was moderated by Anggun Permatasari, S.Si., M.Si. The first presentation was delivered by Winalia Agwil, M.Si., a doctoral candidate at Padjadjaran University and a lecturer in the Bachelor of Statistics Program at Universitas Bengkulu. She introduced the fundamental concepts of machine learning, covering supervised and unsupervised learning, as well as several widely used algorithms, including K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Decision Tree, and Random Forest. She also demonstrated their applications in genomic data analysis, highlighting how machine learning techniques can be utilized to uncover meaningful patterns from high-dimensional biological data.

The second presentation was delivered by Sinta Septi Pangastuti, M.Si., a doctoral candidate and lecturer in the Statistics Program at Padjadjaran University. During this session, participants gained insights into the application of machine learning for text data analysis through text mining, web scraping, and sentiment analysis. The presentation covered the complete workflow, from data collection and preprocessing to model implementation and interpretation of analytical results.

The discussion session was highly interactive, with participants raising questions on the implementation of machine learning in scientific research, genomic data analysis, and the utilization of social media data for decision-making and public policy studies. Through this event, the Bachelor of Statistics Program of FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu hopes to broaden participants’ understanding of the latest developments in Statistical Data Science while strengthening students’ competencies in applying machine learning techniques across various research domains and evidence-based decision-making processes.

 

Bengkulu, 2 Juli 2026 – Program Studi S1 Statistika Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam (FMIPA) Universitas Bengkulu bekerja sama dengan Pojok Statistik Universitas Bengkulu sukses menyelenggarakan Kuliah Umum dan Edukasi Statistik secara daring melalui Zoom Meeting dengan tema “Statistical Data Science: Machine Learning untuk Analisis Data Genomik dan Data Teks.” Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh mahasiswa, dosen, serta peserta dari berbagai perguruan tinggi yang memiliki ketertarikan pada bidang statistika, data science, dan kecerdasan buatan.

Kegiatan diawali dengan sambutan dari Yosef Oktavianus Sitohang, S.ST., M.Stat., Kepala Bidang Diseminasi Statistik BPS Provinsi Bengkulu selaku perwakilan Pojok Statistik Universitas Bengkulu, dilanjutkan sambutan oleh Dr. Pepi Novianti, Koordinator Program Studi S1 Statistika FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu. Setelah penyampaian sambutan, Dr. Pepi Novianti secara resmi membuka kegiatan.

Acara dipandu oleh Anggun Permatasari, S.Si., M.Si. sebagai moderator. Materi pertama disampaikan oleh Winalia Agwil, M.Si., kandidat doktor Universitas Padjadjaran sekaligus dosen Prodi S1 Statistika Universitas Bengkulu. Beliau membahas konsep dasar machine learning, meliputi supervised learning, unsupervised learning, serta berbagai algoritma seperti K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN), Decision Tree, dan Random Forest, beserta penerapannya dalam analisis data genomik.

Materi kedua disampaikan oleh Sinta Septi Pangastuti, M.Si., kandidat doktor Universitas Padjadjaran dan dosen Program Studi Statistika Universitas Padjadjaran. Pada sesi ini, peserta memperoleh pemahaman mengenai penerapan machine learning dalam analisis data teks melalui teknik text mining, web scraping, dan analisis sentimen, mulai dari proses pengumpulan data hingga interpretasi hasil.

Diskusi berlangsung interaktif dengan berbagai pertanyaan mengenai implementasi machine learning dalam penelitian, analisis data genomik, serta pemanfaatan data media sosial. Melalui kegiatan ini, Program Studi S1 Statistika FMIPA Universitas Bengkulu berharap dapat memperluas wawasan peserta mengenai perkembangan Statistical Data Science sekaligus memperkuat kompetensi mahasiswa dalam penerapan machine learning pada berbagai bidang penelitian dan pengambilan keputusan berbasis data.
